My favourite subject
My favourite subject this semester is epistemology. In class we usually sit on a circle and discuss about the topics. The teacher is talking most of the time, explaining the contents and between that she starts asking if somebody has a question or comments. In a typical class we discuss about different ways to understand what knowledge, truth, science means, and how every point of view refute another, in fact they are constantly refuting between them. We work with many authors, such as Descartes, Hume, Kant, Popper, Kuhn, Feyerabend, Husserl, etc. I like it because we're always questioning our own ways to see the world, and we get to realize that your way to understand the world is not always right, or rather be right or wrong depending on which point of view is refuting yours. I also like this subject because the evaluations are quite interesting. Our last test was in pairs, and we had 30 minutes to talk to each others about how were we going to answer the questions, and then 1 hour in silence, each of us writing, and after that 30 minutes to correct your partner's answer. So I think that this is one of my favourite subjects because of the contents and the evaluations.
Its true that the form of discussion really motivates the participation of the students, and it is always a good class.
